There are many people in Zimbabwe today who believe everything ZANU PF tells them. These people include peasants, unemployed citizens, and youths who abuse drugs. They seem to believe the propaganda from ZANU PF, without questioning it. ZANU PF claims that sanctions, which they call illegal, are the reason the country is struggling. However, this is far from the truth.

The sanctions ZANU PF talks about are targeted. They are not aimed at the country but at certain individuals and businesses. The purpose of these sanctions is to push ZANU PF to change and introduce democratic reforms. The goal is to move Zimbabwe towards a fairer, more open democracy. But ZANU PF uses these sanctions as an excuse for their failures.

ZANU PF wants people to think that sanctions are stopping Zimbabwe from importing even simple things like radio parts. They tell the public that sanctions are making life difficult for everyone. Yet, at the same time, these sanctions don’t seem to stop ZANU PF from doing business with the United States. For example, NASA, a government agency from the US, is working with Zimbabwe on a project to launch a space satellite, ZIMSTAT-1. Ford, a private US company, is also selling luxury cars to ZANU PF officials. Somehow, these sanctions don’t get in the way of these big deals.

Last month, ZANU PF held an anti-sanctions day. They spoke loudly about how sanctions are hurting the country. But they didn’t mention the deals with NASA or Ford. They didn’t tell the people that they are driving luxury cars bought with money that should be helping the country. Instead, ZANU PF leaders are using this money to enrich themselves while many people in the country suffer in poverty.

While ZANU PF blames sanctions for problems in the country, they continue to make secret deals with foreign companies and governments. This shows that ZANU PF is not sincere. They are not trying to fix the country. Instead, they are using sanctions as an excuse to cover up their own failures. They want people to believe that the country cannot develop or modernize because of sanctions. However, this is simply not true. The real reason Zimbabwe is not developing is because ZANU PF is looting and plundering the country’s resources.

The money that should be going towards helping the people is being used to buy luxury cars and fund useless projects like the ZIMSTAT-1 satellite. These projects do not help ordinary Zimbabweans. They only benefit ZANU PF leaders, who use the projects to show off while people in their constituencies continue to live in poverty.

ZANU PF’s actions show that they are more interested in enriching themselves than in helping the country. They are comfortable using sanctions as a reason to fail the people. Instead of working to develop the country, ZANU PF leaders are busy lining their pockets with money that should be used to improve the lives of Zimbabweans.

What is stopping the country from progressing is ZANU PF’s corruption and mismanagement. The sanctions are targeted at specific people and businesses, not at the country as a whole. They deserve leaders who will put their needs first and work towards building a better future for everyone.
